Explorer Events - Dates & Prices

These courses are suitable for explorers (not doctors) interested in attaining medical skills for use overseas. You do not need a medical background or even previous first aid training, though some basic first aid knowledge is helpful.

Nurses, medical students and paramedics may benefit from these courses and they are welcome to attend but they are not suitable for doctors. All courses include the use of prescription medications which our instructors authorise you to purchase for 3 years after the course . Far From Help DOES NOT involve the use of needles i.e. injections, suturing or the use of iv fluids.

Please note: Far From Help + Far From Help Part 2/Advanced Refresher is equivalent to the Advanced Medicine (AMRFT) course.

Advanced Medicine for Remote Foreign Travel (AMRFT) - includes injections, suturing & iv fluids more info - run annually every autumn (otherwise do FFH then FFH Part 2 separately).

Expedition Skills - combines Far From Help, bush craft & 4x4 driving/bush mechanic training, held anually near Windermere, Lake District more info

Held annually in July WMT works in collaboration with Woodsmoke and the Land Rover Experience to combine the best of wilderness medicine with bush craft and Land Rover driving, basic vehicle field maintenance and vehicle recovery. This is a must-do course for independent travellers and expedition leaders. If capacity permits nearer the time of this course we may accept modular bookings for the bushcraft training or Landrover components. Bookings for just Far From Help (module 2) accepted anytime.
